Fake government job scams: a practical verification checklist
Direct answer
Check a suspected recruitment message by independently opening the authority's website, matching the original notice and its application URL, and confirming any fee in the notice. Treat guaranteed selection, private urgent payment, unexplained links and requests for OTPs as serious warning signs. A domain or wording checker can flag risk but cannot prove that a notice is genuine.

The local checker is a warning aid only. It does not validate websites or investigate fraud.
Warning signs
- Guaranteed job, direct selection or appointment without the process in the official notice.
- Joining fee, personal UPI or payment to a named individual.
- Lookalike domain, shortened link or application site absent from the notice.
- Urgent demand for OTP, password, remote access or full banking details.
Verify before taking action
Reach the employer from a known official directory, then find the current notice and follow its named application route. Some authorities use approved service providers on separate domains, so a non-government suffix alone is not proof of fraud. Verify the exact provider URL in the notice.
If money or data was sent
Contact the bank or payment provider promptly and follow the current instructions on cybercrime.gov.in. Preserve relevant messages, web addresses and transaction references. Never publish your OTP, password or identity scans to seek help.
